The Department for Child Protection is seeking two Senior Social Workers to join the Adoption Services team on a full-time and part-time ongoing basis.
This role is responsible for:
- Providing counselling to birth parents who are considering placing their child for adoption.
- Conducting comprehensive professional evaluations, training, and assessments of prospective adoptive parents and individuals involved in the adoption process.
- Delivering an office-based service to the community that provides information on adoption.
- Collaborating with a care team to ensure that children under the Minister's care receive a supportive experience that promotes their development, stability, and security.
About You
We are looking for a motivated and organised individual with strong knowledge of child development, including an understanding of how trauma can affect development throughout a child's life and into adulthood.
Our ideal candidate will possess advanced assessment skills, including the ability to gather and analyse information, evaluate risk factors, write detailed reports, and make informed recommendations for approving prospective adoptive parents.
You will also have experience in casework, supporting families throughout the adoption journey, guiding children’s transition into their adoptive families, and developing effective interventions that promote positive outcomes for children and their families.
