The Department for Child Protection (DCP) is seeking a Strategic Adviser
to join the Office of the Chief Operating Officer on a 12-month basis, with the potential for this to become an ongoing full-time role.

The role will involve:
- Providing specialist and strategic advice on a range of matters relevant to the child protection sector.
- Exercising a significant level of independent judgement to monitor complex or sensitive matters and preparing appropriate reports.
- Leading whole of office projects and the preparation of a range of high-quality briefings to the Chief Executive and Minister.
- Undertaking confidential and sensitive projects and research at the request of the Chief Operating Officer
- Working across various departments, providing a high-level view of operations and strategic projects
- Providing support to the COO on business priorities, operational improvements, and risk management.
About You
We are looking for someone with proven experience in a strategic advisory role, providing detailed policy and legislative advice on a range of strategic matters relating to the child protection portfolio.
To excel in this role, you’ll need to be a critical thinker with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong ability to synthesize complex data and present actionable insights. You should be adept at creating and implementing practical solutions for complex and sensitive challenges.
You will have strong project management skills with experience in managing complex initiatives.
Your excellent written and interpersonal skills will enable you to effectively engage with key stakeholders, produce detailed reports and briefings, and lead successful outcomes. Proven experience in handling confidential information with discretion and diplomacy, as well as resolving conflicts and driving positive outcomes, is highly desirable.
