The Department for Child Protection is seeking an Access Worker to join our team at the Mount Barker office on a full-time term basis.
The role is responsible for:
- Supervising the safety of children and young people whilst facilitating activities during access visits.
- Interacting effectively with children and young people to maintain effective relationships.
- Responding to challenging behaviours, managing conflict, and encouraging positive interactions.
- Ensuring the safety of children and young people during transport by driving responsibly.
- Providing culturally responsive support to Aboriginal people and diverse communities whilst engaging in cultural learning to strengthen relationships and improve services.
To be successful, you will have:
- Proven ability to manage workloads, organise and plan work activities whilst prioritising tasks and responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Experience at engaging with children and vulnerable young people to support their needs and promote positive outcomes.
- Demonstrated active listening skills to build trust, support positive interactions, and ensure children and families feel heard during access visits.
- The ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
