The Department for Child Protection (DCP) plays a key role in the protection of children, young people and their families within South Australia. The department provides support to vulnerable children and young people to be safe, strong and connected.
Kinship Care is a type of family-based care provided to children (under the Guardianship or Custody of the Chief Executive or other order of authority). Kinship carers may be a relative, extended family member, Kin or a person who had an existing relationship with the child or young person.
Kinship carers in South Australia are supported by the DCP Kinship Care Program and by the Aboriginal Kinship Care Support Program operated by Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs). These programs provide support, information and training to identified kinship carers.
The DCP Kinship Care Program
Provides a state-wide program offering targeted support, information and training to kinship carers based on their needs.
This includes support to Aboriginal carers and carers of Aboriginal children and young people who wish to be supported by the DCP Kinship Care Program.
The DCP Kinship Care Program is delivered through eight teams aligned to North and South locations.
The Region
Kadina is the largest town on the Yorke Peninsula and is one of three Copper Triangle towns famous for their shared copper mining history. The Kadina office employs approximately 30 people and is one of five offices in the northern region. As a member of this team, you will work with other professionals to deliver child protection services to children, families in the local community of Kadina and surrounding areas.
This is a unique opportunity to work alongside the local community and support good outcomes for that community.
