The Out of Home Care Directorate is seeking a Supervisor to join their team in the Stability in Family-Based Care Unit on a full-time term basis.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Provide a professional social work practice and support the needs of young people under the guardianship of the Chief Executive.
• Contribute to staff development by providing ongoing training, mentoring and opportunities for professional growth.
• Interact with a broad range of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
• Undertake a pivotal role in providing strategic leadership and driving business planning initiatives across the department.
• Participate in project and program development work related to the Stability in Family-Base Care program.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Experience in working within the child protection sector, and providing high level accurate advice relating to initiatives, programs and objectives.
• Proficiency in analysing problems, facilitating constructive discussions and evaluating desired outcomes.
• Experience in a social work or case management capacity working directly with children and families.
• Knowledge and understanding of the issues impacting on Aboriginal children and families and over-representation in the care system.
• Experience in developing workers skill and competency and applying appropriate methodologies into their practice approach.

Essential Qualifications

A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).
