The Department for Child Protection is seeking a Senior Social Worker or Senior Case Manager to join the team at the Playford Office. 

In this role, you will be responsible for: 

• Conducting complex child protection investigations and assessments whilst working with children who have entered into the care of the Minister.
• Planning and delivering focussed intervention to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes. 
• Providing written and verbal reports which are concise, informative and based on an analysis of evidence gathered. 
• Participating in regular visits and supporting parents in developing appropriate parenting skills.
• Assisting children in out of home care to reconnect with their birth families, strengthen relationships and achieve reunification.

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

• Knowledge and understanding of children and young people particularly in regards to developmental stages, vulnerability and resilience.
• Exceptional multi-tasking abilities and the ability to organise work activities whilst taking into account the need to prioritise tasks.
• Knowledge of culturally sensitive child protection practices for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and other communities. 
• Experience in clarifying situations, acting impartially and using influence, negotiation and persuasion to resolve conflict. 
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to help establish positive working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.

Essential:

AHP: A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

PO: Appropriate degree qualification in Community Services, Social Sciences, Human Services, Health or related field.

Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).
