Our Legal Services Directorate is seeking to appoint a Supervisor, Freedom of Information at an ASO7 classification. Based at Netley, the role is responsible for supervising and managing information release requests received by the Freedom of Information (FOI) Team, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
Working closely with the Manager, Redress and Information Release, this role provides leadership to the FOI team and expert advice to stakeholders on information access and release matters. The role also supports strategic projects and improvements in information sharing practices across the Department for Child Protection.
In this role, you will:
- Facilitate the appropriate release of records in line with relevant legislation and policies
- Ensure compliance with confidentiality and information-sharing requirements in records release matters
- Provide specialist advice and guidance to DCP staff on FOI and records access matters to ensure appropriate handling of requests
- Lead discussions and negotiations with internal and external stakeholders regarding scope and handling of requests
- Oversee FOI team workflows, ensuring priorities and statutory deadlines are met
- Support the preparation of briefings for the Manager, Redress and Information Release and senior stakeholders.

- You have experience supervising staff, with the ability to motivate and guide teams through challenging situations
- You can communicate effectively, with a wide range of audiences
- You have high-level knowledge of procedures for processing information requests under relevant legislation
- You are able to use initiative and judgement to solve complex problems
- You work collaboratively to negotiate outcomes and liaise with key stakeholders.
Essential Qualifications:
- Freedom of Information Accredited Officer Training.
