We are seeking expression of interest for the position of Supervisor, Kinship Care to join our office in St Marys on a full-time term basis. You will apply your social work expertise and deliver a high-quality practice that supports and enriches the lives of children, young people, and their families.

In this role, you will be:

• Providing responsive and culturally appropriate services that support positive outcomes for kinship carers, children and young people in care.
• Building relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders to strengthen support for kinship carers.
• Providing staff supervision, development and appraisals while managing workloads and resolving conflicts as required.
• Developing positive strategies to build and maintain a cohesive team supporting client care.

About You:

• You have extensive experience in case work, assessments, interventions and referrals.
• You can mediate conflict by clarifying issues, remaining impartial and using negotiation skills to achieve practical solutions.
• You have experience in supervising teams and strengthening staff capability through reflective, evidence-informed social work practice.
• You can manage performance issues and develop plans to strengthen staff skills and performance.

• A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
• You must have a current Working With Children Check.

Kinship Care is a type of family-based care provided to children (under the Guardianship or Custody of the Chief Executive or other order of authority). Kinship carers may be a relative, extended family member, Kin or a person who had an existing relationship with the child or young person.

Kinship carers in South Australia are supported by the DCP Kinship Care Program and by the Aboriginal Kinship Care Support Program operated by Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs). These programs provide support, information and training to identified kinship carers.

The DCP Kinship Care Program

• Provides a state-wide program offering targeted support, information and training to kinship carers based on their needs.
• This includes support to Aboriginal carers and carers of Aboriginal children and young people who wish to be supported by the DCP Kinship Care Program.

The DCP Kinship Care Program is delivered through eight teams aligned to North and South locations.
