The Department for Child Protection is seeking a Principal Employee Relations Consultant to join People and Culture in Adelaide and lead the management of complex employee relations matters. This is a high impact senior role where you will investigate allegations of misconduct, guide disciplinary processes, and influence workforce outcomes at a strategic level. You will partner with senior leaders to uphold professional standards, manage risk, and drive ethical and accountable practice across the department.
In this role, you will
- Lead investigations into suspected misconduct and complex employee relations matters
- Provide strategic advice on disciplinary processes, grievances, and industrial disputes
- Represent the department in employment and industrial relations forums
- Support leaders to manage industrial risk and uphold professional standards
- Contribute to policy development and enterprise bargaining activities
To be successful
You will bring significant experience in employee and industrial relations, with demonstrated capability in leading misconduct investigations and managing complex disciplinary matters. You are confident operating in sensitive environments where sound judgement, discretion, and fairness are critical.
You will have strong technical knowledge of employment legislation, industrial instruments, and public sector frameworks, with experience representing organisations in industrial or employment related forums. Your ability to analyse risk and provide clear, practical advice will support lawful and defensible outcomes.
You will be a trusted advisor with strong interpersonal skills, able to influence senior leaders and promote ethical, inclusive, and accountable practice. You value collaboration and contribute positively to a safe and respectful workplace culture.
