Join our Aboriginal Directorate as a Senior Policy and Project Officer and play a key role in achieving improved outcomes for Aboriginal children, young people, families and communities. Accountable to the Principal Policy and Project Officer, you will develop policies, procedures, projects, programs and services that enhance service delivery to Aboriginal communities.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Planning, managing and delivering projects efficiently whilst maintaining cultural appropriateness.
- Providing timely advice and research on Aboriginal practice matters.
- Ensuring policies, procedures and guidelines are evidence-based, align with departmental standards and are culturally responsive.
- Participating in relevant training and development activities, including activities to increase the cultural safety of Aboriginal staff.
- Support state-wide Aboriginal Training Forums in DCP and participate on committees and forums providing Aboriginal specific advice.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in the development of policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience in working effectively with Aboriginal people, communities and agencies.
- Sound interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain collaborative relationships in a sensitive, highly complex and contentious work environment.
- Knowledge of the issues affecting Aboriginal people and communities, including those of sensitive and political nature.
- Knowledge of the political, historical and socio-economic circumstances that have impacted Aboriginal people, their culture and communities.
