Our Limestone Coast office is seeking a Family Development Worker to support families in implementing strategies to ensure the needs of children and young people are met. This role provides families with a targeted and practical approach to meeting case plan goals and works with them to facilitate the improvement of their environment. A Family Development Worker also seeks to improve family access to community networks, while empowering them to address issues that impact child safety.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Identify barriers to family effectiveness and provide resources in relation to health, wellbeing and parenting.
- Work with families to support the safe care of children and facilitate access to community support networks.
- Engage in practical activities like role-modelling and minor domestic assistance to facilitate improvements in family functioning.
- Provide specialised support and services to clients with high needs.
- Empower families to address issues in a culturally appropriate manner.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- The ability to develop and implement interventions aimed at meeting the needs of clients.
- Capacity to deliver services that suit a wide range of customers using initiative, creativity and negotiation.
- Experience in communicating effectively with people from diverse professional backgrounds.
- A commitment to developing effective working relationships and the ability to work as a team to provide holistic standards of professional service.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Children and Young People (Safety) Act (CYPS) Act, Families and Communities Act and Child Development.

Mount Gambier offers a multitude of adventurous outdoor activities such as, walking trails, cave diving, trekking and exploring opportunities. The Blue Lake turns a cobalt blue in summer, that can be viewed panoramically from the nearby Centenary Tower. The Umpherston Sinkhole contains a lush sunken garden which has to be seen to be believed. The Limestone Coast area is renowned for its fascinating cave sites. Caves can be explored at the Naracoorte Caves and the Princess Margaret Rose Caves located in Glenelg Victoria.
