This is an exciting opportunity to guide, coach and support social workers and case managers working with complex cases involving children, young people and their families. You will be providing expert advice, contributing to professional development, offering scope to lead by example and drive positive change.
In this role, you will be:
- Assisting Social Workers/Case Managers to plan and prepare difficult case conferences, assessment panels, court hearings and reports.
- Chairing selected case conferences, assessment panel meetings and prepare reports as required.
- Reviewing cases to ensure there are effective plans and appropriate case management is being delivered.
- Preparing reports for principal Aboriginal consultants, supervisors and managers regarding file audits.
- Providing professional guidance/direction on complex cases.
- Researching and evaluating current techniques and methodologies to enhance social/cultural work practice and propose improvements.
To be successful in this role, you will have the following:
- Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Experience in reviewing cases and providing reports which include status updates and recommendations for improvements.
- Knowledge of the Children’s Protection Act, Young Offenders Act and social work/case management theories and methodologies.
- Experience in providing sound, practical advice on professional social work/case management matters.
- Proficiency in analysing problems, initiating constructive discussion/debate, assess and differentiate between actual versus desirable outcomes.
- Expertise in strengthening social workers’ capabilities to apply and promote critical thinking and reflective practice.
Income & Benefits:
AHP Position
- Salary: AHP2 $91,785 – $106,330 p.a. + 12% super
- Exclusive Allowance: An additional 4% allowance for child protection social workers, permanently enshrined in the Enterprise Agreement, positioning DCP as one of the highest paying government employers in South Australia.

- Child Protection Allowance: Professional Officers working in child protection receive a dedicated allowance paid fortnightly, with incremental increases aligned to the Enterprise Agreement. This allowance reflects the specialist nature of child protection work and recognises the professional expertise Professional Officers bring to supporting children and young people.
