The Port Augusta, Whyalla and Port Lincoln offices are seeking Senior Practitioners to join their employment pool on a Full Time Term or Ongoing basis.

The role is responsible for:

• Enhancing Social Worker/ Case Management capacity and principles of social work practice by providing advice to DCP staff, mentoring and researching new techniques and methodologies.
• Undertaking regular reviews of cases to ensure that effective plans are in place and appropriate case management is occurring.
• Providing a specialist opinion or recommendation to support Youth Court processes and act as a witness in court proceedings in addition to assisting with the preparation of case conferences, assessments and reports.
• Contributing to the implementation of continuous quality improvement and policy development initiatives. 

About You

We are looking for a confident individual who has the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with people both within government, non-government sector and community. You will have experience in providing professional advice on social work/case management matters through coaching and mentoring of peers.

You will have knowledge of social work legislative framework including acts, regulations and social work/case management theories and methodologies that guide social work practice principles.

You will also have the ability to analyse complex problems and resolve matters that demonstrate reflective practice.

Essential Qualifications:

AHP -A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).

PO – Appropriate degree qualification in Community Services, Social Sciences, Human Services, Health or related field.

We are establishing a pool of suitable candidates who have successfully completed a selection process for this role. Should you be successful, you will be advised (in writing) that you have been recommended onto this pool. The pool will remain active for 12 months and during this time you may be contacted and offered employment. You are not required to accept any or all offers made to you, and DCP does not guarantee an offer of employment.

The Port Augusta office employs approximately 34 people and is one of six offices in the region. As a member of this office you will work with other professionals to deliver services to Port Augusta, Iron Knob, Roxby Downs, Woomera, Andamooka, Quorn, Leigh Creek, Hawker and up to Maree (and everywhere else in-between!).

Whyalla

Whyalla is located 395kms North West from Adelaide on Eyre Peninsula’s Spencer Gulf or a short 30 minute flight from Adelaide. The town’s population of 22,000 makes it the third most populous city in the state of South Australia behind Adelaide and Mt Gambier.
